Port City Reggae
In a world filled with negativity and chaos, sometimes all we need is a little bit of music to lift our spirits and bring some positivity into our lives. That's exactly what happened at the recent Port City Reggae concert at Waterling Brewing Company in Wilmington. The event, featuring performances by The Wailers, Crucial Fiya, and Nash Chique, brought a wave of good energy and positive vibes to our city.
My wife Lanatria and I had the pleasure of attending the concert, with me capturing photographs alongside photographer Jerry Jones, representing my production company, Ellis Image Productions. Our goal was to capture the essence of the performances and crowd attendees through creative event photography, bringing a unique perspective to documenting the vibrant energy and excitement of the night.
The lineup
of artists did not disappoint, with The Wailers, led by Mitchell Brunings and Aston Barrett Jr., delivering a captivating performance that paid homage to the legendary Bob Marley. Shaneika Murray, also known as Nash Chique, brought her soulful vocals to the stage, spreading her message of positivity and empowerment through music. Crucial Fiya, with their high-energy and vibrant show, kept the audience on their feet and dancing all night long.
In addition to the incredible performances, my wife Lanatria and Christina Mathena had the pleasure of interviewing Shaneika Murray aka Nash Chique, gaining insight into her music career and her work with the Jamaica Constabulary Force. It was inspiring to see how music can be used as a tool for engagement, outreach, and advocacy in the community.
The concert was a reminder of the power of reggae music to uplift and inspire, especially in times of negativity. The energy in the air was palpable, and the good vibes were infectious. It was a night of unity, culture, and consciousness, all brought together through the universal language of music.
As the photographs taken by me and Jerry Jones will serve as a lasting reminder of the positive energy felt that night, we are grateful to Port City Reggae for bringing this event to our city and spreading joy through music. Let's keep the reggae vibes alive and continue to spread positivity in our community.
